The Veil

Dear Mother and Father,

Greetings from Lucresia.  I am writing for two reasons.  First, my hopes have come to fruition.  We have finally been sent south!  Just last week we encountered a small contingent of goblins.  My allies and I have fought many battles and have won many victories.  Tell the clan that we are well represented.  Our new orders have us heading even further south, into the untamed lands of southern Lucresia.  We are sure to encounter plenty of goblins.  It is a very exciting time, but the odds of success are not very high.  We shall be cut off from all support as we make our way toward the heart of the evil.  I look forward to the challenge.  May the Lord of Battles give strength to the just.

Second, I have heard news from elven sources that may interest the clergy.  The elves are frightened by the recent influx of walking dead that has been plaguing the land.  Indeed, our band has encountered several zombies, ghouls, and even an attempt to raise the great dragon Dagnalok to undead glory.  The elves reported that they have uncovered information about a great Veil that separated the world of the living from the world of the dead.  It has long since been removed, but the elves believe that it can be restored.  This restoration would surely stop the creation of undead, but it would also prevent the miraculous healing spells that restore life.  I was unaware of any dwarven attempts to restore this Veil before I left Darble Anvil, so I thought that I should report this endeavor before I head south.  The dwarves should not be left out of this endeavor, whether they decide to help or opt to preserve the magic the Lord of Battles has granted his people.  May the clan ponder this matter carefully.  I pray the Lord of battles to grant you wisdom and understanding as you delve into this matter.  I shall write again when I emerge from the wilds,
